The unforgettable documentary Bringing It All Back Home recorded an astonishing array of Irish, American and British musicians in a wide assortment of contexts, from small pubs to concert stages to the great houses of Ireland. Tracing the journeys Irish music has taken over the centuries, the producers traveled to Dublin, London, Nashville, New York and beyond, recording and interviewing scores of artists for the five-hour television series.

The remarkable performances recorded for the series have long enjoyed legendary status among Irish and folk-music fans. 37 tracks were released in the early '90's on a British double CD, now long out of print. Nearly a decade later, Valley Entertainment is proud to make all of the original music available again, freshly remastered by producer Donal Lunny, along with several previously unissued performances from the series. The result is a moving and unforgettable journey along the paths Irish music has taken, both in the New World and on its way back home again.

Planxty, The Chieftains and Christy Moore are amongst the artists on a compilation album from the early years of the Lisdoonvarna festival. Donal Lunny has compiled the album which also includes songs from musicians such as Emmylou Harris, Richard and Linda Thompson and Rory Gallagher. Lunny was the in-house soundmixer for three Lisdoonvarnas, as well as playing with Planxty and Moving Hearts. A total of 150 acts performed at the festival which took place each summer from 1978 to 1983.

Let Loose in Letterfrack is the third in a series of fund-raising CDs released in support of the Conamara Environmental Education and Cultural Centre. Like its predecessors, 2000's Behind the Mist and last year's Between the Jigs and the Reels, this new compilation features musicians mainly either born in counties Galway or Clare or based in them and has again been produced by PJ Curtis (an environmental campaigner himself who was instrumental in fighting off attempts to develop The Burren in County Clare). Some of the musicians featured here, such as Seán Tyrrell, Luka Bloom, Máire Breathnach, Josephine Marsh and Jacqueline McCarthy will be well-known to most listeners, but all are in expected good form, especially Bloom on a fun-laden live rendition of his own song, I’m a Bogman, but the overriding delight evoked by these collections consists in the discovery of lesser-known musicians.

Studio C works best when it features artists doing new, fresh work that is genuinely good, which is why Shawn Colvin's Fill Me Up and KT Tunstall's Black Horse and the Cherry Tree are two of the disc's highlights...
But it doesn't have to be new and fresh to stand out. Luka Bloom gives an unexpectedly stirring version of Exploring the Blue from his 1992 album The Acoustic Motorbike. Studio C's recording standards have always been high, but the sonic intensity of his guitar work combined with a perfectly miked vocal makes this track a high-water mark.

Since 1982, WOMAD - the World of Music, Arts and Dance - has presented exhilarating festivals in countries all over the world, consistently thrilling capacity audiences with an incredible diversity of styles that always provokes and entices. WOMAD takes us to places we don't know, reaching compass points in music that are way beyond our navigation and imagination.
What better way to enjoy the festival than to listen to the accompanying CD, 'Sounds of the Planet 2011'. Encompassing artists like Angus and Julia Stone, Nitin Sawhney, Luka Bloom, Afro Celt Sound System and Trinity Roots, this is set to be one of the compilations of the year.

Argentinian Benefit CD released by Casa de la Cultura de la Calle.

The House of Culture is an NGO founded and directed by the actor and producer, GASTÓN PAULS. The association has for aim to create a creative space for children and adolescents at risk. More than 400 children from homes Children's Institutes, schools and kids on the street participating in our workshops. We are rooted to the link, artistic and therapeutic. We note that since the art work opens up tremendous possibilities for transformation. Culture, education, creative, diverse artistic expressions are the starting point from which the Casa de la Cultura de la Calle works to promote the boys and girls the ability to dream and transform.

The objective of this project is that the kids find in music a place for expression and production. All lyrics on this CD were written by children of 7-21 years. We worked with over 150 kids so that from each workshop (theater, music, visual arts and visual arts) the kids write, text, songs, ideas, stories related to dreams, to which they ever sang, to what they would like to sing to their children. To the musicians who participated in this project we suggested that, with these letters compose and perform a song thinking about how they sing the lyrics to their children. Something simple, small, a lullaby. The result is the creation of a CD, which will be sold to benefit the Association.

Songs for the Dalai Lama; sharing the common journey is completely unique and a once in a lifetime concert experience to celebrate the journey of the Nobel Laureate, His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet, with around 2 hours of incredible music!

This concert provides a bookend to the Dalai Lama's June visit and will see His Holiness joined by a hand picked selection of outstanding musicians each performing an intimate and exclusive set.

In addition to celebrating the journey of the Dalai Lama, this is also a fund raising event to raise a donation for His Holiness’s charities, which benefit the people and culture of Tibet. The artists involved have all donated their time to celebrate His Holiness and support this cause and we are working closely with them to create an unforgettable show.
