SHE SINGS HER SONGS WITH OPEN EYES

She sings her songs with open eyes
Never holding in the pain
Of all the generations she sings about
She sings her songs with open eyes
Songs of distant voices through her they go

She stands and sings straight as a lighthouse
In the eye of the wind and rain
They bring her songs of Uisneach
And on they go again
In her voice everything turns to light
And her open eyes look across the night

She sings
Wear your troubles lightly
Root your life in the day
Respect yourself now
The love you've yet to know
Will guide your way

She sings her songs with open eyes
She sings her songs with open eyes
She sings her songs with open eyes
And all the bad days fly... fly away... fly away
She sings her songs with open eyes
She sings her songs with open eyes

LUKA BLOOM: "I heard Eithne sing in Kildare a few years ago and was blown away by her voice. Her background is as a singer of old Irish songs, both in the Irish language and in English. I was so taken by her singing I wrote a song for her, it's called 'She sings her songs with open eyes'."

Eithne Ní Chatháin is from Kilcock, Co. Kildare. She plays and sings in a variety of different styles, from traditional tunes on fiddle, to sean-nós singing, to original and contemporary music.
