It's Newbridge, County Kildare, in Ireland where he actually comes from.
Born as Barry Moore he grew up in this quiet Irish town near Dublin. From a very early age he spent all of his time
writing songs and playing guitar. In the Seventies he started playing folk clubs in and around Dublin, often called
a bogman by the city dwellers. In 1987 he headed for America and a new beginning, therefore he created
his new identity from Suzanne Vega's hit "Luka" and "Bloom" from James Joyce's Ulysses.
Today Luka Bloom is proud of being a bogman and in
all his concerts - even in New York, Brussels, Amsterdam or Hamburg - you can get the impression that there are also always a lot of
bogmen in the crowd. He has spent much time touring the globe and in 1998 he came once again to Germany.
That year, by chance, I went to my first Luka Bloom concert. I only
knew one song and I didn't know anything about him, but that night
I felt a bit like his Sunny Sailor Boy, he captured me with his songs
and I had no resistance, and today several years later I am still excited every time I see him.
This website is dedicated to him. It includes upcoming tour dates, some additional information on his
gigs in Ireland and other countries and a tour archive.
You will also find a collection of photos, posted on my or other websites, a list of various
publications - articles, interviews, cd and live reviews - and of course
the most important part, the music - a discography of his albums as Barry Moore and Luka Bloom,
his appearance on various other albums, and a collection of songs
he has written or covered - and finally some news and information in German.
Many thanks to everyone who has contributed to the site, with photos, setlists, reviews, and information!
Your support and encouragement has been very much appreciated.

Welcome and pedal on...
